 Test cricket is the most challenging game of all three formats. It requires a high-level commitment from both batsmen and bowlers, as well as an understanding that there are no easy points on offer in this 5-day contest between teams vying for victory at home or abroad.

Muttiah Muralitharan – 800

Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka was one of the greatest bowlers in international cricket history. He was known affectionately worldwide, bowled with an unusual style compared to a blade cutting through soft butter.

He has taken 800 wickets in 133 matches is the all-time leading wicket-taker in Tests for Sri Lanka. 

He achieved this by being incredibly talented with a great ball balancing skill that allows him to bowl right-arm off-breaks, hitting his target even when it seems impossible.

Shane Warne – 708

Shane Warne is known as the “spin wizard” because he could extract a lot of turns from his surface. His smooth action made him one of the best leg-spinner of all time. Warne, who now is bowling coach and a cricket commentator, is the all-time leading wicket-taker for Australia in Tests with 708 scalps to his name.  He relied heavily on bowling drift and possessed excellent control over length throughout his career, neither shorter nor fuller than needed during play.

James Anderson – 632

With the evolution of cricket and players who can bowl quickly, James Anderson is a valuable asset. He has been playing for England since 2003 with his most notable achievement. Among current players, English pacer James Anderson has the most Test wickets.  He appears to be in good enough shape t0 play for a few more years, with his latest performances hinting so as well. Anderson’s bowling is so good that he has taken 632 wickets at 26.62, with 31 five-wicket hauls and three ten-wicket match achievements to date.

Anil Kumble – 619

Anil Kumble is a legendary leg-spinner and a former Test captain for India. Not only does he hold Indian records for both Tests and One Day Internationals, but also is the fourth-highest wicket-taker in Test the world. Anil Kumble’s performances with the ball in Test cricket helped him become India’s most successful Test bowler. His ability and consistency made up for any speed variations that he did not have, allowing him to take 619 wickets at an impressive rate of 65.9.

Glen McGrath – 563

Glenn McGrath is known as one of the greatest fast bowlers in Australian history. He had a fantastic Test career with 563 wickets in 123 matches to his name, including innings bowling figures 8/24 against Pakistan, which remains unmatched. GD Mcgrath was a clever bowler who knew how to use the crease and his height to his advantage. He had great control on the seam ball and good length delivery that were both well-paced off the pitch and often earned him wickets.

Stuart Broad $ – 524

England fast bowler Stuart Broad is sixth on the list of most wickets in Test Cricket. He currently has 524 scalps under his belt and will be looking for more as he is still an active Test player. This makes him the only sixth bowler to have taken more than 500 wickets, which, no doubt, is a remarkable achievement.

CA Walsh – 519

West Indies fast bowler Courtney Walsh is ranked sixth in the list of bowlers with most Tes wickets. The right-arm fast bowler has been one helluva performer on the field, playing over 100 Test matches and pulling off some crazy performances. West Indian fast bowler Courtney Walsh is the seventh-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket with 519 scalps to his name. His impressive career includes record-breaking performances such as taking seven wickets for 37 runs. He was deadly accurate and lethal with his lines and length.s. The sheer pace, control, and height factor made him one of the deadliest fast bowlers the world has ever witnessed. He was one of the first players to take more than 500 Test wickets.

Dale Stey – 439

South African fast bowler Dale Steyn is in eighth place of most wickets in Test cricket. His quick in-swinging deliveries and bouncy out-swinging ones made life harder for batsmen at the crease. The South African had been terrorizing opponents since 2004 with his bowling. He retired in 2020, 439 wickets in 93 matches to his name.

Kapil Dev – 434

Kapil Dev has been one of the finest Indian all-rounders. The World Cup-winning captain was exceptional both with the bat and the ball. During his 16-year-long Test career, Kapil took 434 wickets in 131 matches played from 1978 to 1994. In his career, the right-arm fast-bowler had 23 five-wicket hauls to his credit. The left-arm orthodox fast bowler is still the second-highest wicket-taker for India after Anil Kumble. He also ranks second among all Indian bowlers, having taken more than 400 wickets overall.

 Rangana Herath – 433

Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath is the most successful left-arm spinner in history, and tenth on the list of most Test wickets overall. As an accomplished bowler, he has played 93 Test matches and bowled 25993 deliveries over a span of 19 years, and made 433 scalps. He is also the highest wicket-taker left-arm bowler in Test cricket history. Herath is currently working with the Bangladesh cricket board as a spin bowling consultant.
