Update: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked l six franchises to pick two additional players each in the Supplementary category for the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 to be held from 27 January to 27 February, the cricket board said in an official statement.
Although each side can select one foreign player each, the decision opens up opportunities for the local emerging cricketers to experience franchise cricket that will contribute to their grooming and development. Separately, this will also provide extra players to the teams, should they require for reasons beyond their control.
The teams will pick additional players in the Replacement Player Draft, which is expected to take place through a virtual session on 7 January 2022.
Karachi Kings will have the first option to pick the first additional player, followed by Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultans and Peshawar. This order has been decided through a random draw.
Using the reverse order format, the second picks will be as follows: Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally announced the date and venue for Pakistan Super League seventh edition (PSL 7) draft.
According to a PCB press release issued on Friday, the PSL 7 draft will be held on Sunday, December 12, at 3 pm Pakistan Time at the High-Performance Centre in Lahore.
The top performers in the T20 World Cup, Asif Ali, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Rizwan have been elevated to the Platinum Category. Young top-order batter, Haider Ali and PSL 6 top-scorer Sohaib Maqsood have moved to the Diamond category following local players’ category renewals.

Each PSL side is allowed to retain a maximum of eight players ahead of the draft. Following the finalization of player categories, the transfer and retention window is now officially open and will close on 10 December.
In the Platinum Category, Lahore Qalandars will have the first pick, followed by Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators. Lahore Qalandars will have the first pick in the Diamond Category, followed by Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings, and Multan Sultans.
Lahore Qalandars will have the first pick in the Gold Category, Peshawar Zalmi will have the first pick in the Silver Category, Lahore Qalandars will have the first pick in Emerging Category and Quetta Gladiators will have the first pick in Supplementary Category.

Foreign Players in PSL 7
A host of international cricket stars from across the cricketing world have made themselves available for the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had earlier announced to host the draft on Sunday, December 12 in Lahore. As per sources, a total of 356 foreign players have registered themselves for the PSL 7 drafts, including some top-of-the-line white-ball cricket stars.
Top T20I bowlers in the International Cricket Council (ICC) bowling rankings, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Rashid Khan are among the players to watch out for during the draft.
Overall, cricketers from all Test-playing nations, barring India, are part of the players’ list available for the draft.
