Pakistan’s premier fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has said that he would gladly accept the captaincy of Lahore Qalandars if and when given.
He made these remarks while speaking during a virtual press conference in Mirpur, ahead of the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
To a question about his plans of getting captaincy, Afridi said that Lahore Qalandars was his parent franchise who gave them the breakthrough at the highest level and made him a star. It would be a pleasure for him to lead this side in the future.
“I will be honored to lead Lahore Qalandars if I am offered the captaincy role. I have always tried to give my best for the team and I will continue to do so,” he added.
About the workload, Afridi said he was currently enjoying cricket and had no plans to backtrack from any responsibility in the name of rest.

“The workload is not an issue for me as I have trained very hard to keep myself fit. The staff has been extremely helpful and I am enjoying every minute of cricket across all three formats,” said Shaheen.
The 21-year-old pacer praised Hasan Ali as a ‘great bowler and a fighter and said that he enjoyed bowling with him.
“We [me and Hasan] have become a great duo and I like our bowling partnership. He is not only a great bowler but also a fighter,” Afridi said in response to a question about their bowling performance. He added that Hasan had really improved since his comeback and had taken 39 wickets this year.
“Whenever the captain hands me the ball, I give my 100 percent. Babar Azam gives confidence to every player and expects them to give their utmost best in return,” Shaheen added.
