The announcement of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad on Monday did not bode well with any of the cricket fans, and it was equally unacceptable for the Pakistan cricket team’s captain Babar Azam.
As reported by several media outlets, the skipper has expressed reservation over the non-selection of his recommended players.
The Problem With Pakistan’s Squad for T20 World Cup
Reports suggest that at least four out of 15 players were forcefully changed by the Chief Selector Muhammad Wasim on the directives of chairman-nominee Ramiz Raja.
As per reports, Azam was unhappy with a couple of additions to the squad and has his reservations for them. He wanted Sharjeel Khan, Fakhar Zaman, and Faheem Ashraf instead of Asif Ali, Azam Khan, and Sohaib Maqsood.
Since PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja is very much vocal against corruption in cricket we can feel that Sharjeel Khan’s exclusion from the squad is pretty much his decision, due to fixing charges on the cricketer in the past.
Misbah and Waqar step down as Pakistan coaches ahead of T20 World Cup
If speculations are to be believed, Ramiz has even asked Babar to ‘focus on cricket instead of the squad. He reportedly wants Babar to improve his batting and let go of captaincy in the red-ball cricket.
The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Rizwan’s name is surfacing as the new Test captain for the Pakistan cricket team in the test.
