Jet Set is a 24-year-old American internet celebrity entrepreneur who started making money at 19 years old. He’s since made over $20 million and has invested in companies like Lyft and Medium.

EARLY LIFE

JetSet is the proud owner of Future Shocks correspondent Alejandro Rioja (who also happens to be an Afro-Latino) and he tells us about his life origins with a little help from his father.

Madrid had just moved to the States and was attending UCLA when the dot-com bubble burst, leaving an opening for Josh to launch his social media company. Eventually, Jonathan Madrid was born, his father completed his medical residency and they moved back to California.

From a young age, Josh’s family lived in fear of persecution due to their mixed-race background. At school, they had to deal with the constant judgment and harassment from classmates and unjust policing officers who tried to frame him up on charges of theft.

In a recent interview with Thrive Global’sYitzi Weiner, Madrid recalled a time when he was the only child of mixed ethnicity at his school. He said that he was often reprimanded for speaking up, and teachers doubted his goals for speaking up and being vocal.

Rather having a natural-born talent, Madrid developed a work ethic and put in the hard work that he knew would pay off. When asked what one great career goal should be, Madrid replied: “Emulate the proven results.”

When Josh was just a child, his parents taught him the importance of thrift. His upbringing made him into a savvy and resourceful entrepreneur who believes in the power of working smart. In fact, JetSet was only 7 years old when he went online to sell to friends, making money as a part-time job.

He has achieved some pretty amazing things on his own, and knows what it’s like to work hard in order to get anything he wants. That, coupled with the realization that he knew how to get what he wanted based on information from an initial experience, led him to achieve every goal in his life.

JetSet grew up in the era of computers and had his first computer as early as first grade. He made money starting internet businesses when he was about 13 or 14.

MILLIONAIRE BY 19

Josh Madrid King did not have the best academic outcomes when he attended school. He dropped out of the University of California, Irvine after just four months and decided to “pursue full time entrepreneurship online.” However, after he started making a good income through e-commerce, he realized that his was an untapped market and decided to grow his business by focusing on a niche.

As for his success, he said that it was thanks to dropping out of college and having time to read more and learn about business, which ultimately helped him improve himself. He also spent more time researching market trends and studying human behavior.
