Star batsman and Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam has broken yet another record of his Indian counterpart Virat Kohli.
Kohli, who has been one of the finest batsmen in modern-day cricket over the years, has slowly been losing his records to the new talk of the town, Babar Azam.
This time, it is the record of most fifty-plus scores in a calendar year. The 27-year-old has been in a sublime touch of late and has scored four half-centuries in five group matches of the T20 World Cup.
His latest one, 19th in the calendar year, came against Scotland in the final group match that led him past Kohli’s record of 18 fifties in 2016.
The Indian skipper, who recently stepped down from T20I captaincy after the T20 World Cup debacle, had been in the form of his life in 2016. Off the back of it, he had scored 18 fifty-plus scores including 14 half-centuries and four centuries.
