Pakistan captain Babar Azam created a unique record of his own on Wednesday when he picked up his first Test wicket in the final session of Day 5 in Dhaka.
Babar, who usually creates headlines for his batting records, picked up a crucial wicket of Mehdi Hasan Miraz to break a formidable partnership that eventually led Pakistan to victory.
This happened in the 78th over of Bangladesh when the partnership between Mehdi and Shakib al Hasan looked to deny Pakistan a well-earned win in the second Test.
Pakistani bowlers strong resistance from Bangladesh middle-order on the final day, despite enforcing Bangladesh all-out for 87 in the first innings and, then taking four early wickets after enforcing a follow-on.

Regardless of the first four wickets, the experienced middle-order consisting, Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib, and Mehdi Hasan made Pakistani bowlers toil for wickets.

At a time, the Mehdi-Shakib duo looked to take the match towards a draw. The pair consumed more than 23 vital overs in the second and the third session and stitched together a 51-run stand.
However, the Pakistani skipper’s change of bowling did the trick and he finally got Mehdi trapped before the wicket. It was initially given not out but was overturned on the review.
Earlier on Tuesday, Babar made headlines after he bowled for the first time in international cricket, and nearly got a wicket.
The game finally resumed on the fourth day of the Test match after two days being washed out with only 6.2 over bowled on the third.
Both batsmen at the crease, Babar (76) and Azhar Ali (56) got out early to hand Bangladesh some advantage. However, Mohammad Rizwan (53) and Fawad Alam (50) denied Bangladesh another wicket as they kept scoring runs at a brisk pace.

Captain Babar Azam declared the innings when the total reached 300/4, with both batsmen crossing fifties.
When Pakistan came to bowl, the bad light did not allow the pacers to bowl more than once over, as umpires asked Babar to bowl his spinners in order to continue the game in the dim light.
However, Pakistani spinners bowled splendidly and took 7 wickets for 76 runs before the stumps of the day. Captain Babar Azam brought himself to bowl the final over before drinks in the final session, which eventually turned out to be the last over of the day.

That was the first time when Babar ever bowled at an international level, across the formats. He gave away just one run in the over and almost took his maiden international wicket as the fifth ball of his over, took an outside edge of Taijul Islam’s bat, and nearly carried to the slip.
