First, it was Haris who restricted New Zealand to 134/7 with his magical spell of 22/4, and then Asif Ali took the game away from Kiwis with his big sixes.
Thanks to his 12-ball 28, Pakistan overhauled the 135-run target with five wickets and 8 balls to spare. Experienced campaigner Shoaib Malik was the other key contributor in Pakistan’s statement win over New Zealand. He walked at a crucial stage when Pakistan was three down for 63 in 11 overs and required another 72 runs off 54 balls on a tricky surface.

He played sensibly despite losing Rizwan (33) and Imad Wasim (11) in the process. He kept his calm and stayed at the crease with Asif Ali. The duo stitched an unbeaten 48-run partnership for the sixth wicket to see their side home.
With this wicket, Pakistan have extended their head-to-head lead over Kiwis in T20 World Cups to 4-2, and overall tally to 15-10.
Earlier, Pakistan skipper opted to bowl first after winning his second consecutive toss. His bowlers backed his decision and bowled tight lines to restrict Kiwis to a chasable total. Haris Rauf (22/4), Shaheen Afridi (22/1) and Imad Wasim (24/1) kept a lid on New Zealand’s scoring rate.
