Scientists from the University of California School of Medicine conducted a study and studied the parameters of the level of loneliness throughout a person’s life. The results are published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry.
To conduct the study, scientists interviewed 2843 people aged 20 to 69 years. It turned out that people experience loneliness throughout their lives, but this feeling has peaks and declines. One of these peaks occurs in the generation of 20-year-olds. Researchers explain this by the fact that at this age, young people face severe stress and pressure from society, as well as the fear of not finding their soul mate. It is also during this period of life that people tend to compare themselves with others.
The second peak of loneliness falls at the age of 40-50 years. Scientists believe that this is due to the fact that during this period of life, people begin to have health problems, loved ones die, and children become independent and leave the family.
Oddly enough, the lowest level of loneliness was in 60-year-olds.
If you are experiencing feelings of loneliness that are haunting you, here are three ways to reduce that feeling and reduce the level of anxiety that loneliness can bring.

Accept your feelings
As with any other emotion, the feeling of loneliness cannot be overcome immediately if you do not acknowledge it. Psychologists say that such a feeling is a signal to accept your own vulnerability. By noticing changes in your emotional state, you are already taking the first step to feeling better. Do not give up your feelings – try to live them and not scold yourself for their manifestation.
Seek companionship
To align your emotions – it is important to communicate, it does not matter where and with whom exactly. You can connect with old acquaintances, you can register on a social network, or you can go to a casino to play at gems-bonanza.com games or place bets on sports at bookmaker Canada. The most important thing is to use every opportunity to meet new people.
Throw out emotions
In moments of loneliness, it is necessary to seek connection not only with others but also with oneself. Allow yourself to take a break from your normal routine, relax and listen to yourself. Think about what emotions you have now, and try to throw out all the negativity that has accumulated over a long time. To do this, you can either meet with a friend and tell her about your experiences, or start a personal diary and write down all your emotions on paper. It is important to get rid of what torments you – and then life will be easier.
Find the cause of your condition
According to certified consultant Danita Morales Ramos, our feelings are not finite, they are only part of our experience. In order not to suffer from the feeling of loneliness, it is important to understand what it is connected with – with the past, present, or future. Try to remember when this feeling arose and what it was connected with – perhaps some changes took place in your life that led to the appearance of loneliness.
Knowing where a feeling comes from helps us process it intelligently. If the origins are in the past, you need to focus as much as possible on your life in the present. And if the feeling of loneliness arises when thinking about the future, it is usually anxiety that can be overcome with positive affirmations and awareness.
Remember that no matter what emotions you are experiencing at the moment, you are not alone. Millions of people around the world also face problems every day, go through difficult periods in their lives and experience different emotions. Do not blame yourself for being alone, allow yourself to experience this moment and tune in to the best – this is the only way you can improve your emotional state.
